MPHPT announces areas for analog frequency conversion in July for the start of terrestrial digital broadcasting



The MPHPT has announced the areas, as shown below, that will start frequency conversion in July .

The frequency conversion, which started in February 2003, has been completed in 160 areas as of the end of June 2004. In terms of households, about 1.42 million households (about 33% of the total) have had the conversion completed. The process is currently moving ahead smoothly according to plan.

Areas for analog frequency conversion in July (11 areas, about 350,000 households).

Kanto: 4 areas in 1 metropolis and 1 prefecture (Part of Utsunomiya City, Kanuma City, and Mibu-machi in Tochigi Prefecture, part of Oshima-machi and Toshima-mura in Tokyo Metropolis).

Hokuriku: 1 area in 1 prefecture (Part of Suzu City in Ishikawa Prefecture).

Kinki: 3 areas in 2 prefectures (Part of Kohoku-cho and Taga-cho in Shiga Prefecture), part of Inami-cho in Wakayama Prefecture).

Chugoku: 3 areas in 2 prefectures (Part of Kurashiki City, Nadasaki-cho, and Okayama City in Okayama Prefecture, part of Fukuyama City and Numakuma-cho in Hiroshima Prefecture).
