Postal Service


  1. Domestic postal service and private courier usage (month of October 1998)
    The following is the ratio of households using domestic postal and private courier for the month of October in 1998: Letters 59.3%, postcards 67.6%, parcel post 15.3%, and private courier 29.6%. Looking at the quantity of each type sent we see that letters and postcards were highest at "1 - 2", and then parcel post and private courier at "1" per household.

  2. Overseas information transmission and small package delivery services usage
    In the last year, the ratio of households that sent information or a parcel overseas was 17.6%, 4.5 percentage-points higher than the prior survey (1996).
    Looking at the method used by each household to send information or a parcel shows that the most used means was standard postal service with 51.0%, followed by telephone (49.2%), fax (19.3%), and Internet (19.0%).
