BRIEF OVERALL PROJECT SUMMARY:

Implementation of platform development effort for the promotion of international usage of leading edge ultra high speed communication network through
(1) International interconnection of ultra high speed telecommunication network and (2) Research and development related to international multi-media application realization

(1) International interconnection of ultra-high speed communications network Installation in the premise of CRL of equipment for international interconnection of ultra-high speed network, where relevant interconnections within networks from inside and outside the country via high speed international circuits will be accomplished accordingly enhancing the quality of technology development regarding international interconnectivity.
(2) Research and development of international multi-media applications realization Installation of equipment relating to application development and demonstration utilizing cutting edge ultra high-speed communications network in Telecommunications Advancement Organization of Japan, through which research and development of international standardized designs and international electronic transactions can be conducted.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES:

Infrastructure construction for international telecommunications network creation by driving enhanced network fabrication of international networks for Japanese corporations and networks linking Japanese corporations and foreign corporations with the object of promoting transformation of Japanese economic structure by means of development of new markets, growth in sophistication of existin operations, increase in import volumes etc. This will releave negative impact of the appreciation of yen through improved corporate structure, expansion of domestic internal demand etc.
One objective is to provide leadership for G7 international joint projects in order to contribute to the international standardization in terms of interconnetivitity and interoperability of broadband network applications.

EXPECTED/ACTUAL RESULTS:

(1) Promotion of standardization through this specific project
(2) Promotion of efforts to construct global broad-band network and relevant applications development
(3) of various new business utilizing broad band network technology.

The project is intended to facilitate international corporate alliances among those with advanced technologies and to promote swift dealing of products and parts which are both reasonably priced and superior in quality. The project will eventually contribute to the construction of the information society by way of such changes as management innovation, and the creation of new businesses utilizing networks that will be applicable to Japanese corporations.
