BRIEF OVERALL PROJECT SUMMARY:

The project aims at facilitating the testing of the interoperable
capabilities between the various high-speed networks.
To proceed with the project, the MPT will facilitate the establishment of
national broadband networks / testbeds, aiming at interconnectivity and
interoperability with broadband testbeds of other countries.
The MPT will set up appropriate facilities in the Communications Research
Laboratory (CRL) of MPT.
PROJECT OBJECTIVES:
Facilitating the testing of the interoperable
capabilities between the various high-speed networks.
EXPECTED/ACTUAL RESULTS:
The project will stimulate the rapid evolution of high speed,
multi-protocol, multi-service networks. Industry will benefit from a
broadening of the international cooperation, widening of the knowledge base
of those involved and reduction in the cost of the development cycle.

TARGET GROUPS:
PARTNERS/ACTORS IN THE PROJECT
Telecommunications carriers play important roles for the provision of
testbeds themselves. Equipment vendors / multimedia service providers will
also participate in the project, aiming at developing new products and
multimedia applications.
USE OF INFORMATION/TELEMATIC TECHNOLOGIES:
The project will demonstrate the following technologies:
    - Interconnectivity / interoperability of ATM networks
    - Interconnectivity / interoperability of high-speed satellite links
    - High definition video transmission, etc.
BENEFITS TO THE INFORMATION SOCIETY:
The project is a necessity to ensure a stable environment for the
development and testing of various applications which will become an
integral part of the Information Society.
EXPECTED COST:
