BRIEF OVERALL PROJECT SUMMARY:

Experiment in distance-education training to verify the effect of education and exchange in remote places.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES:

Promoting expansion of satellite communications and international co-operation in the field of space in the Asia-Pacific region.

EXPECTED/ACTUAL RESULTS:

To verify the effectiveness of distance-education in remote places using satellites.

USE OF INFORMATION/TELEMATIC TECHNOLOGIES:

Satellite communications system using Engineering Test Satellite V (ETS-V).
Simple and small sized earth stations for ETS-V (antenna of 1.2m).
Video conference system of fine still pictures by 64kbps digital circuits.

BENEFITS TO THE INFORMATION SOCIETY:

To verify the effectiveness of satellite communications systems in rural regions. To promote expansion of Distance-Education using satellites in the developing countries.

EXPECTED COST:

The cost is estimated at $20 million. (This cost is sum total budget of PARTNERS Promotion Council)
