BRIEF OVERALL PROJECT SUMMARY:

This project is one of BBCC's B-ISDN application experiment projects and is conducted in collaboration with Nara Research Center of Telecommunication Advancement Organization. In this project, the latest electronic library system with distributed multimedia databases are experimented in terms of multimedia information retrieval and display over B-ISDN.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES:

1) To explore possibilities and requirements for electronic library systems of the future utilizing the latest technologies of computers and related software.
2) To evaluate electronic library systems by the end users including librarians, researchers and the public in general.

EXPECTED/ACTUAL RESULTS:

To identify the future image of electronic library which enables anyone to locate and retrieve required information through B-ISDN from their homes as well as academic and business sites.
