The world of Naturalist Ryuzo Torii
Ryuzo Torii was a naturalist active around the turn of the century. He conducted natural history and ethnological surveys in such areas as China, Taiwan, Sakhalin, Korea and Okinawa and captured on dry photographic plates rare scenes of life styles and customs of the people, a tremendous scholastic achievement. The plates have been preserved as research material at Tokyo University and now some representative items have been compiled into this data base.
