BRIEF OVERALL PROJECT SUMMARY:

Introducing and promoting of HDTV in local cities.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES:

.HDTV performs very well not only for broadcasting but also for other uses such as movies, education, medicine, printing and so on. Local communities can therefore be revitalized with the help of HDTV.The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications has formulated and promoted the HDTV City Concept, in which designated HDTV Cities introduce HDTV systems and use it practically. For example, art programs can be shown at cultural facilities.

EXPECTED/ACTUAL RESULTS:

The technical quality of information available to citizens will be greatly enhanced through the use of HDTV.

TARGET GROUPS:

Broadcasters, TV program productions and manufacturers form the HDTV promoting association.

USE OF INFORMATION/TELEMATIC TECHNOLOGIES:

HDTV is Hi-Tech itself. Additionally equipment such as VTRs and transmitters have begun to use digital techniques, allowing very vivid images to be displayed.

BENEFITS TO THE INFORMATION SOCIETY:

HDTV will play a very important role in the Information Society. Cultural facilities with HDTV systems will be key stations for multimedia in the future.
