BRIEF OVERALL PROJECT SUMMARY:

To realize bi-directional anti-disaster administrative radio communications system which everybody can use as easily as telephones that is consistent with effective use of frequencies. The R&D is necessary to introduce technologies enabling transmission and reception simultaneously using one-channel in the unidirectional system now in use.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES:

Because of the increasing importance of anti-disaster radio communications systems in disasters such as earthquakes and heavy rains, it is necessary to make it possible to improve frequency use and to realize bi-directional communications which are easy to use.
With this purpose in mind, R&D activities are carried out on the systems to realize a bi-directional MCA ( Multi Channel Access) system designed to facilitate a duplex operation ( simultaneous transmission and reception system) in one channel used in simplex anti-disaster systems.

EXPECTED / ACTUAL RESULTS:

It is expected that this will promote the use of anti-disaster administrative radio communications systems, and contribute to rescue and other activities in disasters.

PARTNERS / ACTORS IN THE PROJECT:

Hitachi Electronics Ltd.

USE OF INFORMATION / TELEMATIC TECHNOLOGIES:

Simultaneous communication technology in a single channel

BENEFITS TO THE INFORMATION SOCIETY:

The project is expected to contribute to rescue and rehabilitation activities in disasters.

EXPECTED COST:

180 million yen
