PROJECT OBJECTIVES:
To enable citizens of Hamamatsu City to have access to governmental services, such as obtaining residence cards, at remote offices of local government. There are 27 offices in the city, which presently provide 94 services. In the near future, they will be able to use more than 150 services, such as consultation from specialists who are in headquarters offices, through a videophone facility (Tele-Consultation) .EXPECTED/ACTUAL RESULTS:
Citizens are able to save time in gaining access to local government services through accessing them at remote offices. Remote offices are not only convenient, but also reduce emissions of CO2 and NOx by reducing the need for citizens to use cars.TARGET GROUPS:

Digital data communication technology is used. Using an encryption method is a very important factor to secure citizens' privacy. The image compression technique must be applied to Tele-Consultation.BENEFITS TO THE INFORMATION SOCIETY:
In the Information Society, much governmental information will be available at your home, at information kiosks and so on. The trial in HAMAMATSU city is at the leading edge of such systems.EXPECTED COST:
