BRIEF OVERALL PROJECT SUMMARY:

Test of constructing the info-communications systems consisted of picture telephones and personal computers in the fields of medicine and welfare

PROJECT OBJECTIVES:

To realize info-aging society (a society in which each elderly people can live more comfortably supported by essential info-communications system.), The object of this project is to construct on info-communications system which can be used by old people in the fields of medicine and welfare.

EXPECTED/ACTUAL RESULTS:

In 1994, Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications conducted small experiments using info-communications systems in such fields as medical and welfare services for the elderly. One example was the tele-medical consultation system. This experiment showed good results.
As a next step we decided to concentrate on one city as a model construction site. As a result of this we expect a "knock on " effect with more regions in such info-communications for the aged.
