There are several existing R&D projects that are under way at the Yokosuka Research Center relating to the development of portable communication system etc. which is intended to complement communications capabilities of vocally functional handicapped as well as sophisticated telephone system that would augment the hearing of the aged and those with hearing handicaps.
This project is to start, in addition to above-mentioned items, new R&D on technology related to magnifying specific information on the screen in accordance with the intensity of visional handicaps (weak sighted people) including those associated with age.
The R&D also refers to other technologies relating to identifying best input parameters that will correspond to the type and level of physical handicap.PROJECT OBJECTIVES:
The project intends to contribute to the realization of a society where anyone can freely utilize and benefit from telecommunications irrespective of physical handicaps and functional deterioration by way of securing availability of information through the development of an information communications system that will complement physical disadvantages and functional decline.EXPECTED/ACTUAL RESULTS:
It is anticipated that functional technologies that are required for establishment of information communications system to accommodate for a variety of physical disadvantages as a result of accumulation of new technologies including those which are already in place or under way.TARGET GROUP:
