Vessel Operation Management SystemCOUNTRY OF ORIGIN AND CURRENT LOCATION:
Japan, Sea area of JapanPROJECT COORDINATOR:
Nippon Senpaku Tsuushin K.K. (Japan Marine Telecommunication Co.,Ltd)BRIEF OVERALL PROJECT SUMMARY:
This system designed to transmit positional information (i.e. position, velocity) which is analyzed by GPS navigation equipment to terrestrial stations via INMARSAT. Terrestrial users may receive this information displayed graphically, and utilize various applications such as operation management.PROJECT OBJECTIVES:
The G-7 Information Society Conference held in February 1995 in Brussels decided to implement pilot projects including the Maritime Information Sociery (MARIS).
To facilitate the MARIS project, we propose the establishment of this system to offer constant positional information. We intend to make an international joint experiment in this system.EXPECTED/ACTUAL RESULTS:
1. Curtailment of communication expense by data transmission
2. Planned arrangements on loading
3. Safety navigation
4. Automatic recording on land of a vessel's position
5. Simpler of means for making a operation table
6. Automation making reports of service results

2. INMARSAT system
3. data communication system
BENEFITS TO THE INFORMATION SOCIETY:
Establishment of world-wide common system could facilitate global management of operations and maintenance of safety of shipping.EXPECTED COST:
