Telecommunications Advancement Organization of JapanBRIEF OVERALL PROJECT SUMMARY:
(1) R&D on the proper locating of servers in the video communication networks
R&D into optimizing distribution of information using multiple servers, a key problem which will emerge with the quantitative expansion of information in video networks in the future.
(2) Development of a communication protocol for real-time video communications on the Internet. The plan is to develop a protocol capable of real-time transmission of video etc. to replace TCP/IP now used in the Internet.
(3) Research into video data transmission technologies using satellite communications.
Research into transmission technologies usable by the satellite communication networks to share MPEG formatted digital video data made in various national research laboratories.PROJECT OBJECTIVES:
In order to facilitate the diversification of applied network configurations which will accompany the spread of video communications, stable high-speed video communications under various environments, such as communications between distributed servers and terminals Internet communication environment will be necessary.
Therefore the objective is to suppose the most frequently used distributed network environments to implement total R&D concerning digital video communications, and to contribute to the realization of high-quality video communications.EXPECTED / ACTUAL RESULTS:
