A survey (the 9th) targeting establishments was performed as an approved survey under the Statistical Reports Regulation Law. The execution of this survey, from sampling to tabulating, was subcontracted to the New Information Center (corporation).3. Survey Summary

Industries targeted were taken from the Standard Industrial Classification for Japan excluding 46 (Postal service) and 47 (Telecommunications). However, these categories were integrated into 13 categories as listed below.

(1) Regarding weighting
In order to collect a sample that allows sufficient analysis of each type of industry, a systematic sampling by industry stratified by employees size was carried out. However, if an analysis were done on these results as is, the trends of industry types (scale) with a smaller distribution ratio would be reflected more strongly than they merit. Therefore, in this report a weight value was calculated as a standard for all the data to make it agree with the population, and analysis was then done on these adjusted results.
