  1. EDI usage
    The ratio of enterprises using EDI was 33.4% for enterprises with 300 or more employees, a 4.6 percentage-point decrease since the previous survey. Tabulated by industry we see that in Finance and Insurance (31.3%) and Wholesale and Retail Trade, Eating and Drinking Places (30.2%) the rate of EDI usage is high.
    Tabulated by number of employees, we see that the larger the enterprise the higher the usage, and in enterprises with 2,000 or more employees the usage ratio was 51.6%. Additionally, the usage rate for newly surveyed enterprises with 100 to 299 employees was 20.4%.

  2. Usage and Reason for using an Internet-based EDI
    Among enterprises that are using EDI, the ratio of enterprises using an Internet-based EDI was 27.5%. Additionally, the most common reason for using such a set up was "cross-platform compatibility" at 33.8%, followed by "low communication costs" (24,9%), and "increase the number of available applications such as e-mail" (13.7%).

  3. Problems concerning the diffusion of EDI
    The largest problem in the diffusion of EDI systems as seen by enterprises that use EDI was "documentation formats differ from industry to industry" (40.9%), followed by "specialized knowledge is required to install a system" (26.7%). Among enterprises that are not currently using EDI but that plan to use it, "documentation formats differ from industry to industry" (29.1%) and "specialized knowledge is required to install a system" (29.1%) were equal, followed by "unprepared for EDI implementation" (24.5%). Among enterprises that aren't currently using EDI and that have no plans to use it, "unprepared for EDI implementation" was highest at (27.6%), followed by "specialized knowledge is required to install a system" (22.4%).
