Among enterprises using LAN, Intranet, and Extranet systems, "password access control" was highest for type of security used in all network types. Tabulated by network type, enterprises with an Extranet showed a higher ratio of use in all security measures compared with those enterprises using LANs or Intranets.
The ratio of enterprises taking anti-virus countermeasures was 73.2% for enterprises with 300 or more employees, which shows a 15.4 percentage-point increase since the previous survey. The countermeasure with the highest ratio was "introduction of a client-side virus-scanning program" (61.6%), followed by "introduction of a server-side virus-scanning program" (35.3%). Excluding "other," all anti-virus countermeasures were higher than the previous survey.
In enterprises with 300 or more employees that have introduced anti-virus software, and tabulated by "periodic update," the "more than once per month" category was 34.8%, 7.9 percentage-point increase since the previous survey. Additionally, "No updates since introduction" was 19.7%, a 7.3 percentage-point decrease since the previous survey.
The system backup measure with the highest ratio was "in-house power generator, UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) installation" at 45.1%, followed by "maintain a backup connection" (11.4%), "dual CPU and communication control devices" (9.1%).
