February 29, 2024 Licensing for Entry into Special Mail Business

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) submitted an inquiry to the Information and Communications and Posts Administrative Council (chaired by AIDA Hitoshi, professor emeritus at the University of Tokyo) concerning permission for the following applicants: (1) Tokiwa Transport Co., Ltd. (headed by KAWAMATA Koji, Representative Director) and nine other parties to engage in special mail business and establish correspondence mail management regulations. (2) SAROUTE Co., Ltd. (headed by TKAGI Eri, Representative Director) to change its correspondence mail agreements and correspondence mail management regulations. A reply was received from the Council stating its approval as inquired.
In response to the report, MIC will arrange to grant permission and approval to the applicants today.

With permission and approval granted to Tokiwa Transport Co., Ltd. and nine other applicants, the number of special mail business licensees reached 599. Special mail businesses are positioned as businesses that provide diverse services by responding to sophisticated and diversifying users’ needs and making creative efforts. It is expected that these business operators entering the mail service industry will increase users’ selection range of services.
