When using an individual antenna

You can receive terrestrial digital TV broadcasts if you have a UHF antenna and a DTV ready TV, or if you connect your current analog TV to a terrestrial digital tuner or a recording device with a built-in terrestrial digital tuner.

If your TV is not connected to a UHF antenna, you will have to install one. If the UHF antenna you are currently using is not compatible with the terrestrial digital TV broadcasting band, or if the reception directions for terrestrial digital and current terrestrial analog TV broadcasts are different, then you may need to install an additional antenna.

What is the DH Mark?

The Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association (JEITA) has established a registration system to maintain and improve the performance and quality of household TVs and antennas for BS/110°CS and terrestrial digital TV broadcasts. Manufacturers are encouraged to affix the "JEITA Digital Hi-Vision Receiver Mark (DH Mark)" to these devices and to voluntarily undertake inspections and registration of high-quality products. The goal of the system is to promote the rapid proliferation of Digital Hi-Vision devices.

Devices used for receiving terrestrial digital TV broadcasting must be purchased at the user's expense.
*
Reception methods differ for viewers using cable TV and viewers using shared reception facilities (for example, in the case of interference from large structures in a given area).
Please refer to the appropriate sections ("When using cable without installing an antenna" or "When using community antenna reception facilities").
