The Environmental Dispute Coordination Commission is an administrative commission established on July 1, 1972, by integrating the Land Coordination Commission (established on January 31, 1951) and the Central Pollution Examination Commission (established on November 1, 1970) under Article 3 of the National Government Organization Act.
The major roles of the Environmental Dispute Coordination Commission are as follows:
- (1) Settling environmental disputes quickly and justly through conciliation, mediation, arbitration and adjudication (Environmental Dispute Settlement System)
- (2) Seeking coordination between mining, quarrying or gravel-collecting industries and the public interests (Land-use Coordination System)
