October 16, 2015 Results of Eighth Japan-ASEAN Information Security Policy Meeting

The Eighth Japan-ASEAN Information Security Policy Meeting (hereinafter referred to as “the Policy Meeting”) was held on October 14 and 15, 2015, with the objective of enhancing international collaboration and efforts of Japan and ASEAN countries in the field of cyber security, a fundamental element of socioeconomic activities. The participants of the Policy Meeting confirmed and deliberated the state of their past and future cooperation in cyber communication exercises, critical infrastructure protection, and human resource development, on which the member states agreed at the seventh Policy Meeting held in Tokyo last October. As a result, the participants reached an agreement to cooperate further in the introduction of critical infrastructure protection in Japan and ASEAN countries based on the guidelines for critical infrastructure protection in Japan and ASEAN countries that was formulated last year. Furthermore, they decided to study further toward the realization of long-term training as well as the implementation of short-term training and workshops for human resource development. In addition, the confirmed the continuation of joint awareness-raising activities or regional cyber security improvements and cyber communication exercises between governments.
