September 17, 2015 Appeal for Candidate Places for APECTEL 54 (54th APEC Telecommunication and Information Working Group Meeting) in Japan

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) is making preparations for APECTEL 54 (the 54th APEC Telecommunication and Information Working Group Meeting), which will be held in Japan in the autumn of 2016 (around October). In this connection, MIC would like to ask each local government working to invite international conferences or working on ICT utilization and application measures to consider being a candidate place for holding APECTEL 54.

About APECTEL

  • 1.
    Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) is a forum in which major economies in the Asia-Pacific region participate for the purpose of the sustainable development of the region.
  • 2.
    APECTEL as one of the working groups of APEC is composed of three groups (i.e., Liberalization Steering Group, ICT Development Steering Group, and Security and Prosperity Steering Group), and APECTEL is held approximately twice a year, which more than 200 participants, including manager-class officials of the information and communications authorities of the member states attend.
