March 2, 2016 Results of Seventh Director General-Level Meeting of the Japan-U.S. Policy Cooperation Dialogue on the Internet Economy

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) and the U.S. Department of State held the fourth Director General-Level Meeting of the Japan-U.S. Policy Cooperation Dialogue on the Internet Economy at the Mita Kaigisho conference hall on February 25 and 26.
Officials of MIC, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the National Information Security Center, the National Strategy Office of Information and Communications Technology, , etc. participated. They discussed a broad range of issues over the Internet economy with officials of the State Department, the Federal Communications Commission, etc. from the United States. The participants agreed on continuous cooperation toward ministerial-level meetings, including the G7 Ise-Shima Summit and the G-7 Ministerial Conference on Information and Communications Technology in Takamatsu, Kagawa, both of which will be held in Japan this year.
Furthermore, the 2016 Japan-U.S. Internet Economy Industry Forum Joint Statement, which summarized the recommendations of Japanese and U.S. industries for the development of the Internet economy, was submitted at the beginning of the meeting.
