July 13, 2016 Approval to Japan Broadcasting Corporation’s Business to Lease Broadcast Equipment, including 4K/8K Experimental Broadcasting Transmission Equipment

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) submitted today an inquiry to the Radio Regulatory Council (Chaired by Tadaaki Maeda, Advisor to Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd.) on the application of Japan Broadcasting Corporation (President: Katsuto Momii). This application was filed in accordance with the provisions of Paragraph 14, Article 20 of the Broadcast Act (Act No. 132 of 1950) for two types of business, including business to lease 4K/8K experimental broadcasting transmission equipment, and Paragraph 1, Article 85 of the said Act for the leasing of broadcast equipment. MIC received by return a report from the Radio Regulatory Council stating its approval as inquired.
Accordingly, MIC has decided to approve the application of Japan Broadcasting Cooperation today.
