The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has been holding meetings of an advisory body named the Round-table Conference on Radio Policies 2020 since January 2016. The Conference (chaired by Kazuteru Tagaya, Professor of Faculty of Law at Dokkyo University) has been discussing measures for the development of Japan’s wireless infrastructure services with international competitiveness, the direction of institutional development toward the introduction of new wireless systems, and the ideal state of Japan’s radio wave usage fee system that is to be reviewed in 2017.
MIC made an appeal for opinions from June 7 through 24, 2016, on a draft report of the Round-table Conference on Radio Policies 2020, and received 93 opinions in response.
