August 30, 2016 Results of the Visit of Megumi Kaneko, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications, to the Republic of Kenya

Attendance to TICAD VI to emphasize a wide appeal for high-quality ICT infrastructure under public-private cooperation

Megumi Kaneko, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications, visited the Republic of Kenya in Africa from August 25 through August 29, 2016, and attended the 6th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD VI).
TICAD VI adopted the Nairobi Declaration and the Nairobi Implementation Plan focused on three priority areas in order to respond to the new challenges and progress of Africa.
At the thematic meetings of TICAD VI, Parliamentary Vice-Minister Kaneko announced that Japan will accelerate its initiatives in the ICT field, including the solution of security issues, and contribute not only to the stabilization of the African society, but also to the solution of global issues through the utilization of ICT.
The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) held an exhibition named “Japan Fair,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications exhibited a booth in order to introduce the splendor of Japan’s ICT and implement initiatives to promote the development of high-quality ICT infrastructure under public-private cooperation.
