January 4, 2017 Establishment of Special Numbers, including M2M-dedicated Numbers

A system started on January 1 of this year to assign the 020-number zone exclusively for machine to machine (M2M) telecommunications.

Revisions to Ministerial Ordinances, etc.

In order to assign the 020-number zone (excluding the 0200- and 0204-number zones) exclusively for M2M telecommunications, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications revised the Regulations for Telecommunications Numbers (Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (MPT) Ordinance No. 82 of 1997), along with necessary revisions to the following ordinances, notice, and directive: Rules for Reporting on Telecommunications Business (MPT Ordinance No. 46 of 1988), Grants and Contributions, etc. related to the Provision of Universal Telecommunications Services (MIC Ordinance No. 64 of 2002), Notice for Specifying Details of Regulations for Telecommunications Numbers (MPT Notice No. 574 of 1997), and the Examination Standards related to the Telecommunications Business Act (MIC Official Directive No. 75 of 2001).
