February 9, 2017 Establishment of Learning Consortium for the Future

Toward the introduction of computer programming education into schools through public-private collaboration

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) will jointly establish a Learning Consortium for the Future in order to spread and promote programming education at school in collaboration with school officials, educational and IT-related enterprises and ventures, and industries. The Consortium’s activities will include the development of diverse and sophisticated educational materials for computer programming and experienced-based computer-programming activities with the cooperation of companies for the implementation of computer programming education to foster programming-thinking skills in accordance with the new educational guidelines of MEXT.
Taking the opportunity of this establishment, MIC hereby announce that it will hold an inaugural meeting jointly with MEXT and METI on Thursday, March 9, 2017, by inviting supporters of this initiative.
