January 5, 2018 Announcement of International IoT Competitiveness Index 2016

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications has compiled and released an international IoT competitiveness index (based on track records of 2016) as a reference for the reinforcement of the international competitiveness of Japan’s ICT industry.
This index shows that Japan is placed second in the overall ranking of IoT competitiveness as a result of the calculation of the score and ranking of 10 major countries and regions surveyed. The calculation was based on the service and product sales-based share and potential competitiveness factors, including research and development and mergers and acquisitions (M&A), of each country and region in 2016 by targeting 1,500 countries classified by the IoT market and conventional ICT market in the 10 major countries and regions.
