October 3, 2018 Corrections to Announcement of Quarterly Data on the Number of Telecommunications Service Subscriptions and Market Share (FY2018 Q1 (End of June))

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) announced data on the number of subscribers of telecommunications services and the market share in the first quarter of fiscal 2018 (as of the end of June 2018) on September 25, 2018. However, there was a clerical error in the figures of SIM card type subscribers described per business operator under 1 (2) MVNO in the quarterly data, and accordingly, MIC hereby corrects the figures.

Corrected:
The share in the number of SIM card type subscribers^*2 per business operator: Rakuten’s share 15.6% was the highest (up 0.1 point from the previous quarter), followed by Internet Initiative Japan’s 14.3% (down 0.3 points from the previous quarter), NTT Communications’ 11.5% (down 0.3 points from the previous quarter), K-Opticom’s 10.3% (up 0.1 point from the previous quarter), and BIGLOBE’s 5.2% (remain unchanged).
^*2: The duplication of the number of contracts by MNOs’ intra-group transactions was eliminated.
