March 7, 2018 Holding Symposium on Suicide Prevention Enhancement Month

Effective support for young people who uses the Internet to reveal their troubles

The Internet is one of the places where young people can reveal their own problems. On the other hand, however, a number of cases have been reported, in which young people have been involved in crimes and troubles as a result of the revealing of their problems or their suicidal desires in public places. It is a challenge to take measures to avoid such dangers and provide proper support.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has decided to hold a symposium for the purpose of deepening its discussion over the ideal state of the use of the Internet as well as ICT with stakeholders by sharing their recent initiatives. These stakeholders include electric telecommunications carriers that make efforts to realize safe and secure network communications and NPOs that support young people and young people at the forefront of network communications.
