March 1, 2018 Approval to Abolish Specific Terrestrial Basic Broadcasting Stations of Open University of Japan

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) submitted today an inquiry to the Radio Regulatory Council (chaired by Susumu Yoshida, Specially Appointed Professor, Kyoto University) concerning approval to an application of the Foundation for the Open University of Japan (chaired by Setsuo Arikawa) to abolish its specific terrestrial broadcasting stations under Paragraph 1, Article 89 of the Broadcast Act (Act No. 132 of 1950). MIC received by return a report from the Radio Regulatory Council stating the appropriateness of the approval as inquired.
Accordingly, MIC has decided to approve the abolition of the above specific terrestrial basic broadcasting stations today.
