August 3, 2018 Results of the Visit of Seiko Noda, Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications, to Russia

Seiko Noda, Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications, took an official trip to Russia from July 30 through August 2, 2018. It was the first time that the Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications visited Russia.
This time, Minister Noda met H.E. Mr. Konstantin Yurievich Noskov, Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of Russia, discussed the cooperation of Japan and Russia in the fields of information and communications technology (ICT) and postal services, and signed a joint statement.
Furthermore, Minister Noda attended the completion ceremony of Vnukovo Logistics Center of Russian Post and emphasized Japan’s contribution so far and the expectation for further cooperation in the future. Also, she visited a post office in Moscow and confirmed the steady sales progress of Japanese products there. In addition, she boosted the industry, academia, and government collaboration between Japan and Russia in the field of wireless communications while attending the first Japan-Russia Wireless Roundtable.

1.Visit to H.E. Mr. Konstantin Yurievich Noskov, Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media

Seiko Noda, Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications visited and held talks with H.E. Mr. Konstantin Yurievich Noskov, Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media. During the talks, Minister Noda confirmed the steady progress of the cooperation of Japan and Russia in the fields of ICT and postal services, discussed the further cooperation of both countries, and signed a joint statement.

2. Attendance at the completion ceremony of Vnukovo Logistics Center of Russian Post

To celebrate the completion of Vnukovo Logistics Center of Russian Post, where Japanese companies delivered postal equipment (including sorting machines) and systems, a completion ceremony was held during the visit of Minister Noda. Minister Noda, as well as Mr. Shinichiro Akiba, President and CEO of Toshiba Infrastructure Systems & Solutions Corporation, represented Japan and attended the ceremony. From the Russian side, H.E. Mr. Konstantin Yurievich Noskov, Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media, and Mr. Nikolay Podguzov, CEO of Russian Post attended the ceremony. Minister Noda emphasized Japan’s contribution so far as well as the expectation for progress of further cooperation between both countries in the future.

3. Visit to the sales space of Japanese products at Russian post offices

Minister Noda visited a post office in Moscow, where Ms. Inessa Galaktionova, Deputy CEO of Russian Post, explained the sales progress of Japanese products utilizing the Russian post office network. Furthermore, Minister Noda visited the sales space of Japanese products in the post office and confirmed the steady sales progress of Japanese products there.

4. Attendance at the Japan-Russia Wireless Roundtable

Minister Noda represented Japan and H.E. Mr. Oleg G Dukhovnitsky, Chief of the Federal Communications Agency, represented Russia hosted the first Japan-Russia Wireless Roundtable to exchange opinions on the efforts of both Russia and Japan in the field of wireless communications. Industry, academia, and government stakeholders of both countries actively exchanged information there, and the Roundtable contributed to the progress of industry, government, and academia collaboration, including the signing of an agreement between Russia’s Moscow Technical University of Communications and Japan’s University of Electro-Communications Informatics on academic exchanges and cooperation.
