August 20, 2018 Results of the Visit of Shinsuke Okuno, State Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications, to Tunisia, Senegal. and Eritrea

Shinsuke Okuno, State Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications, visited Tunisia, Senegal, and Eritrea from August 9 through August 17, 2018.In each country he visited, he agreed with his counterparts to continue exchanging opinions to strengthen relations between Japan and these countries in the development of communications and broadcasting infrastructure.

1. Outline of State Minister’s Visit to Tunisia

State Minister Okuno held talks with H.E. Mr. Anouar Maarouf, Minister of Communication Technologies and the Digital Economy, and agreed to continue exchanging opinions to strengthen relations between Japan and Tunisia in the development of communication infrastructures and broadcast technologies.

2. Outline of State Minister's Visit to Senegal

  State Minister Okuno held talks with H.E. President Macky Sall and agreed to tighten bilateral relations between Japan and Senegal, including the development of investment climate. Furthermore, they exchanged opinions on the possibility of private-sector business cooperation utilizing ICT between the two sides.

  State Minister Okuno held talks with Mr. Yoro Moussa Diallo, Secretary General of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, and agreed to continue exchanging opinions to strengthen the relations between Japan and Senegal in developing communication infrastructures and broadcast technologies and postal services.

3. Outline of State Minister’s Visit to Eritrea

State Minister Okuno held talks with H.E. Mr. Osman Saleh Mohammed, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and H.E. Mr. Yemane Gebremeskel, Minister of Information, and agreed to continue exchanging opinions to strengthen the relationship between Japan and Eritrea in the development of communication infrastructures and broadcast technologies.
