January 18, 2019 Results of the Seventh Japan-EU Symposium on ICT Research and Innovation

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) and the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT) held the Seventh Japan-EU Symposium on ICT Research and Innovation jointly with the European Commission (EC) at the BIG lecture hall of the University of Vienna on Monday, December 3, 2018. In the Symposium, MIC and the EC reported the achievements and progress of international collaborative research and development in the ICT field, which had been jointly promoted under MIC’s Strategic Information and Communications R&D Promotion Programme (SCOPE) (International Standard Acquisition Type) and the EC’s Horizon 2020. Furthermore, topics important for both Japan and Europe in the ICT field were summarized and shared, which will accelerate Japan-Europe joint public appeals for ICT development themes in the future. Through the Symposium, the participants reaffirmed the effectiveness of Japan-Europe international collaborative research, and they confirmed to reinforce the cooperation of Japan and Europe in research and development in the ICT field by using this framework.
