November 8, 2019 Request for Consideration of MIC’s Basic Idea against Application for NHK’s Plan on Changing Internet Distribution Standards

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) received an application of Japan Broadcasting Corporation, also known as NHK (President: Ryoichi Ueda), for a plan on changing NHK’s broadcast implementation standards based on the provision of Article 20, Paragraph 2, Items 2 and 3 of the Broadcast Act (Act No. 132 of 1950), which has been amended last by the Act for Partial Revision of the Broadcast Act (Act No. 23 of 2019).
However, MIC has requested NHK to consider MIC’s current basic idea against the application.
