November 19, 2019 Results of 12th Japan-ASEAN Information Security Policy Meeting

The 12th Japan-ASEAN Information Security Policy Meeting (hereinafter referred to as “the Policy Meeting”) was held in Bangkok, Thailand, on Tuesday, October 29, and Wednesday, October 30, 2019.
The Policy Meeting has been held approximately once a year since 2009 with the aim of strengthening the international cooperation and efforts of Japan and ASEAN countries in the cybersecurity field.
This year marked the 12th anniversary of the Policy Meeting, where the participants exchanged opinions on the security policy of each year in the past year. Furthermore, the participants confirmed and evaluated the member countries’ collaborative activities, including their joint cyber exercises, sharing of practical examples on important infrastructure protection, joint awareness raising, capacity building, and mutual notification of incidents.
At the Policy Meeting, the progress of various cooperation activities between Japan and ASEAN was confirmed, and new cooperation activities for assessing the soundness of cyberspace in the ASEAN region were agreed.
