December 23, 2019 MIC’s Basic Idea against Application for Japan Broadcasting Corporation’s Plan on Changing Internet Distribution Standards, Response of Japan Broadcasting Corporation on Results of Its Study, and Appeal for Opinions

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) made an appeal for opinions from Saturday, November 9 through Sunday, December 8, 2019, on MIC’s basic idea on the handling of the application of the Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK for short, chaired by Ryoichi Ueda) for a plan to change the implementation standards of Internet utilization business. At the same time, MIC requested NHK to consider the basic idea.
In response to the appeal of opinions, MIC received 26,433 opinions, and regarding the request to NHK for consideration, MIC received NHK’s response on the result of consideration. Accordingly, MIC has decided to open the submitted opinions and NHK’s response to the public, along with MIC’s views on the opinions.
