December 25, 2019 Public Appeal for FY2020 R&D Themes under Strategic Information and Communications R&D Promotion Programme (SCOPE)
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) hereby announces that it will make a public appeal for new research and development (R&D) themes starting in fiscal 2020 under SCOPE, a project to grant competitive funds for R&D in the field of information and communications technology.
1. Period
From Monday, January 1 through Thursday, February 6, 2019 (no later than 5:00 PM).
2. Open call programs
The following table lists programs that call for research and development.

3. Other considerations
The MIC has decided to make this public appeal before the fiscal 2020 budget bill passes through the Diet so that this program can be started promptly after the budget bill passes through the Diet. Therefore, it should be kept in mind that the implementation of the program is subject to change according to the passage of the budget bill.
