March 15, 2019 FY2019 Appeal for Proposals for Establishment of Safe, Secure, and Proper Usage Environment of IoT (Establishment of Guidelines to Contribute to Proper Operation and Maintenance of IoT Usage Environment)

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has decided to make an appeal for proposals for the establishment of a safe, secure, and proper usage environment of the IoT (establishment of guidelines to contribute to the proper operation and maintenance of an IoT usage environment). With the establishment of the environment, MIC aims to improve users’ literacy regarding the efficient use of radio waves and to contribute to the realization of Society 5.0 through regional demonstrations of IoT systems used in various applications and environments, thereby identifying the characteristics of radio waves used for IoT systems according to each situation and gathering knowledge, including know-how to use radio waves effectively to contribute to the proper operation and maintenance of the IoT utilization environment.
The subject project is to be covered by the fiscal 2019 initial budget. MIC, however, decided to make this appeal before the fiscal 2019 budget bill passes the Diet so that this project can be started promptly after the budget bill is approved. Therefore, it should be kept in mind that the implementation of the project is subject to change according to the passage of the budget bill.
