April 26, 2019 Toward Full-scale Introduction of Translation System to Public Institutions

A multilingual speech translation platform for commercial use has been launched today to utilize the results of researches commissioned by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) and make multilingual speech translation technology easier to use. With this platform, MIC will further promote the spread of automatic translation systems.
With the advent of such cloud-based translation services, MIC will organize and study the full-scale introduction of cloud-based translation systems to public organizations. Furthermore, MIC will start an effort to reinforce the ability of public organizations to respond to foreign languages by using automatic translation technology for the making of draft translations at the windows of the public organizations and multilingualization of materials and strongly support the reform of working styles.
