January 17, 2020 Public Offer of Organizations to Implement Reception Difficulty Countermeasure Project

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) decided to make a public offer from Friday, January 17 through Thursday, February 6, 2020, for organizations to make environmental improvements and provide support for the smooth migration of conventional broadcasting to digital terrestrial broadcasting (under a reception difficulty countermeasure project) pertaining to the fiscal 2020 budget.
Analog terrestrial television broadcasting has ended nationwide by March 31, 2012, and has migrated to terrestrial digital broadcasting. However, in some areas, terrestrial digital broadcasting reception difficulty continues to occur due to the abnormal propagation of radio waves. It is necessary to take permanent measures to eliminate this problem.
Accordingly, MIC has decided to make the following public appeal for organizations to implement a reception difficulty countermeasure project pertaining to the fiscal 2020 budget.
MIC will make this offer before the fiscal 2020 budget bill passes the Diet so that eligible organizations can start the project as soon as possible. Therefore, it should be kept in mind that the implementation of the project and its contents and financial source for the project are subject to change according to the passage of the budget bill.
In addition, it should be kept in mind that the contents of the subsidy grant guidelines, including those for wireless system spread support, are subject to change.
