January 24, 2020 Approval of the Amount and Method of Grants and the Amount and Collection Method of Contributions based on the Act on the Management Organization for Postal Savings and Postal Life Insurance, Independent Administrative Agency

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has today submitted an inquiry to the Information and Communications Administration and Postal Administration Council (chaired by Kazuteru Tagaya, Professor Emeritus at Chiba University) and received a report by return stating its approval as the original plan drafted. This inquiry is about the authorization of the amounts of grants, along with the amounts and collection method of contributions in response to the application of the Incorporated Administrative Agency Management Organization for Postal Savings and Postal Life Insurance (headed by President Fujio Amano, hereinafter referred to as the “Organization”), based on the provisions of the Act on the Management Organization for Postal Savings and Postal Life Insurance, Independent Administrative Agency (Act No. 101 of 2005; hereinafter referred to as the “Act”).
In response to this report, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications will approve the matter to the Organization.

Recently, the Organization has applied for approval to the Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications regarding the amounts of grants and contributions in fiscal 2020 based on the Act.

Under the provisions of the law, the Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications is to consult with the Information and Communications Administration and Postal Administration Council before approval for the application, and that is the reason MIC submitted the inquiry.

As a result, MIC received a report to the effect that it is appropriate to authorize as applied. Accordingly, MIC will approve the application today.
