Technical requirements for telecommunications facilities in response to the spread of IoT as a part of technical requirements for telecommunications facilities corresponding to the switchover of networks to IP
Since December 2017, the IP Network Facilities Subcommittee (Chief Investigator: AIDA Hitoshi, Vice President and Professor at Graduate School of Engineering, the University of Tokyo) of the Department on Information and Communications Technology under the Information and Communications Council has been studying technical requirements for telecommunications facilities in response to the spread of IoT. These requirements are a part of the technical requirements for telecommunications facilities corresponding to the switchover of networks to IP (Inquiry No. 2020 of October 31, 2005).
Recently, the IP Network Facilities Subcommittee drafted a Fourth report, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) will make an appeal for opinions on the draft from Friday, October 2 through Wednesday, November 4, 2020.

2. Overview
Since December 2017, the IP Network Facilities Subcommittee of the Department on Information and Communications Technology under the Information and Communications Council has been studying technical requirements for telecommunications facilities in response to the spread of IoT. These requirements are a part of the technical requirements specified for telecommunications facilities corresponding to the switchover of networks to IP (Inquiry No. 2020 of October 31, 2005).* Recently, the IP Network Facilities Subcommittee has drafted the Fourth report, which shows the results of its study from June 2020 through September 2020 on the ideal state of technical requirements for wireless fixed-line phone facilities. The report covers a part of the technical requirements for telecommunications facilities in response to the spread of IoT. Accordingly, MIC has decided to make an appeal for opinions on the drafted report from Friday, October 2 through Wednesday, November 4, 2020.

On the results of the study at the Subcommittee, MIC received the first report in September 2018, the second report in May 2019, and the third report on March 2020 from the Information and Communications Council.
3. Submission deadline
No later than Wednesday, November 4, 2020 (Opinions, if submitted by mail, must arrive no later than the same day.)
4. Future plans
With consideration of opinions submitted, the Subcommittee will finalize the report.
