Considering the result of the appeal for opinions, MIC will promptly make a partial revision to a relevant notice.
1. Background and overview of institutional development
MIC will partially change the Telecommunications Number Plan (MIC Notice No. 6 of 2019) to unify the number area* of Iizuka City, Fukuoka Prefecture, and convert the area code of Kotake Town, Kurate Gun, into a four-digit area code. With this change, it will be possible to dial from the local area code when making a call to the entire city of Iizuka.
An area code indicates a range where local calls are possible. A caller can make a phone call by dialing only the local number between areas with the same area code.
