October 9, 2020 Results of Appeal for Opinions on Draft Notice on Partial Revisions to Telecommunications Number Plan

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) made an appeal from Saturday, August 22 through Wednesday, September 23, 2020, for a draft notice on partial revisions to the Telecommunications Number Plan. However, no opinions were submitted.
Considering the result of the appeal for opinions, MIC will promptly make a partial revision to a relevant notice.

1. Background and overview of institutional development

MIC will partially change the Telecommunications Number Plan (MIC Notice No. 6 of 2019) to unify the number area* of Iizuka City, Fukuoka Prefecture, and convert the area code of Kotake Town, Kurate Gun, into a four-digit area code. With this change, it will be possible to dial from the local area code when making a call to the entire city of Iizuka.

    An area code indicates a range where local calls are possible. A caller can make a phone call by dialing only the local number between areas with the same area code.

2. Result of appeal for opinions

MIC made an appeal for opinions from Saturday, August 22 through Wednesday, September 23, 2020. However, no opinions were submitted.

3. Future plans

Considering the appeal for opinions, MIC will promptly make a partial revision to the relevant notice.
