October 27, 2020 Appeal for Opinions on Draft Report of Satellite Communications System Subcommittee

Technical requirements for Ku-band non-geostationary satellite communications systems by satellite constellation using a 500 km altitude orbit as part of technical requirements for mobile satellite communications systems using non-geostationary satellites

The Satellite Communications System Subcommittee (Chief Investigator: ANDO Makoto, Professor Emeritus, Tokyo Institute of Technology), Department on Information and Communications Technology, Information and Communications Council, has been deliberating on technical requirements for Ku-band non-geostationary satellite communications systems by satellite constellation using a 500 km altitude orbit as part of technical requirements for mobile satellite communications systems using non-geostationary satellites.
Recently, the Subcommittee drafted a report, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) will make an appeal for opinions on the draft report from Wednesday, October 28 through Thursday, November 26, 2020.

2. Overview

The Satellite Communications System Subcommittee, Department on Information and Communications Technology, Information and Communications Council, recently drafted a report on technical requirements for Ku-band non-geostationary satellite communications systems by satellite constellation using a 500 km altitude orbit. Accordingly, MIC has decided to make an appeal for opinions on the draft report from Wednesday, October 28 through Thursday, November 26, 2020.

3. Submission deadline

No later than Thursday, November 26, 2020 (Opinions, if submitted by mail, must arrive no later than the same day.)

4. Future plans

Considering the result of the appeal for opinions, the Satellite Communications System Subcommittee will finalize the report.
