November 13, 2020 Exhibiting at SET eXPerience 2020 (Brazil), Latin America’s Largest Broadcast Equipment Exhibition

To widely publicize Japan’s broadcasting equipment and ICT solutions, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) will open the Japan Pavilion at the SET eXPerience 2020, an online event hosted by the Brazil TV Broadcasting Technology Association (SET).

In recent years, Latin American countries have increased their presence against the backdrop of steady economic growth. They have become essential partners in the international community that shares fundamental values, such as democracy and market economy, with Japan.
In 2006, the Federal Republic of Brazil became the first overseas country that adopted the Integrated Services Digital Broadcasting-Terrestrial (ISDB-T) system (the Japanese digital terrestrial system). Since then, Japan and Brazil are in active cooperation mainly in the broadcasting field, including the migration of Brazil’s conventional television broadcasting to digital terrestrial television broadcasting. Japan and Brazil signed the Memorandum of Cooperation for Promotion of Investment and Economic Cooperation in the Infrastructure Sector between Japan and the Federal Republic of Brazil in October 2016, when Brazil’s then-President Michel Temer visited Japan. Furthermore, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan and the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovation and Communications of the Federal Republic of Brazil signed the Memorandum of Cooperation in the Fields of Digital Terrestrial Television Broadcasting and Information and Communications Technology in August 2018. Under these memoranda and other agreements, the scope of cooperation between the two countries has expanded to digital terrestrial television broadcasting and the entire field of information and communications technology (ICT) in recent years.
Against this background, MIC has decided to open the Japan Pavilion at the SET eXPerience 2020, which will be held online from November 30 through December 3 of this year, to publicize Japan’s broadcasting equipment and ICT solutions widely.
