November 24, 2020 Holding of Radio Policy Roundtable in the Age of Digital Transformation

In light of the expected acceleration of digital transformation in society as a whole, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) will hold a Radio Policy Roundtable in the Age of Digital Transformation. The purpose is to examine issues related to radio wave policies in the age of digital transformation, set a new goal, and consider measures to promote the effective use of radio waves, in addition to designing the future vision of radio wave utilization.

1. Background and purpose

With novel coronavirus infectious disease as a turning point, it is expected that society’s digital transformation, which is necessary for establishing a new daily lifestyle and maintaining and developing economic activities, will progress further in Japan. Under such circumstances, it is necessary to support digital transformation, effectively use radio waves, which are limited resource shared by the people, and to spread the benefits to the people and revitalize Japan’s economy and society.
Considering these, MIC has decided to hold this roundtable to examine issues related to radio wave policies in the age of digital transformation, set a new goal, and consider measures to promote the effective use of radio waves, in addition to the future image of radio wave utilization.

3. Schedule
