December 1, 2020 Appeal for Opinions on Issues to be Studied at Radio Policy Roundtable in the Age of Digital Transformation

In light of the expected acceleration of digital transformation in society as a whole, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) organized a Radio Policy Roundtable in the Age of Digital Transformation. The purpose is to examine issues related to radio wave policies in the age of digital transformation, set a new goal, and consider measures to promote the effective use of radio waves, in addition to designing the future vision of radio wave utilization.
Accordingly, MIC will make an appeal for opinions on the issues to be studied and their ideas from Wednesday, December 2 through Thursday, December 24, 2020. MIC will utilize the submitted opinions as a reference for discussions at this roundtable.

1. Background

MIC has been holding the Radio Policy Roundtable in the Age of Digital Transformation (hereafter referred to as the “Roundtable”) on November 30, 2020. Considering that the digital transformation of society as a whole is expected to accelerate, the Roundtable started discussions on the future vision of radio wave utilization. The discussions include issues related to radio wave policies in the age of digital transformation, set a new goal, and consider measures to promote effective radio wave utilization.
Accordingly, MIC has decided to make an appeal for opinions on the issues. MIC will utilize the submitted opinions as a reference for discussions at the Roundtable.
Furthermore, if necessary, MIC will conduct hearings to gain a future understanding of the submitted opinions.

2. Recruitment procedure

Deadline: Thursday, December 24, 2020 (Opinions submitted by post must arrive no later than the deadline date).
MIC will post reference information on this appeal for opinions on the public comment page of the e-Gov (https://www.e-gov.go.jp/en/ Open a new window).

3. Matters to remember

The submitted opinions will be used as a reference for discussions at the Roundtable. The submitted opinions will be summarized and released after the appeal period. Please note that MIC cannot make an individual response to each opinion.
