December 15, 2020 Announcement of Results of Appeal for Opinions on Draft Guidelines for Deterring the Distribution of Wireless Devices not Conforming to Technical Standards and Release of the Guidelines

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) made an appeal for opinions on a draft of guidelines for deterring the distribution of wireless devices not conforming to technical standards and received 30 opinions. These opinions and the MIC’s views thereon are announced here, along with “Guidelines for Deterring the Distribution of Wireless Devices not Conforming to Technical Standards”, which MIC published considering the opinions submitted.

1. Background

Considering the proposals at the FY 2019 follow-up meeting of growth strategy roundtable meeting on the effective use of radio waves, MIC drafted the guidelines for deterring the distribution of wireless devices not conforming to technical standards. Accordingly, MIC made an appeal for opinions on the draft from Thursday, October 29 through Friday, December 4, 2020.

2. Results of appeal for opinions

MIC received 30 opinions as a result of the appeal for opinions on the draft of guidelines for deterring the distribution of wireless devices not conforming to technical standards.
